A residence card (karta pobytu) is an official document confirming the legal stay of a foreigner in Poland. It replaces a visa and allows you to live, work and study in the country.
Temporary residence card
Issued for 1–3 years based on work, studies, business activity or family reunification.
Permanent residence card
Available in specific cases, such as Polish origin or marriage to a Polish citizen.
EU long-term residence card
Allows long-term stay in Poland and provides mobility within other EU countries.
A Polish residence card provides access to healthcare, education and social services, and allows free travel within the Schengen Area. In the long term, it may lead to permanent residence or Polish citizenship.

“My name is Ilya. On May 8, I received a notification that my documents for the residence card were insufficient. Not knowing what to do next, I turned to KDI. On May 9, I had a consultation, on May 15 my application was accepted by the office, and on May 27 — only 12 days later! — I received a notification that my card was ready. Huge thanks to KDI for the speed and support.”
